The Auburn - Alabama Rivalry
The Iron Bowl is the official name of the annual football game between the Alabama Crimson Tide and the Auburn Tigers. The series, considered one of the most heated rivalries in American sports, is currently a home and home matchup played the week of Thanksgiving between the SEC teams. The game was dubbed the "Iron Bowl" in 1964 by Auburn coach Ralph Jordan, referencing the strong steel industry presence and history in the Alabama city of Birmingham.

The 2019 Iron Bowl
The #15 Auburn Tigers upset the #5 Alabama Crimson Tide by a final score of 48-45 at Jordan-Hare Stadium in Auburn, AL on November 30, 2019. The loss would be the second of the season for the Crimson Tide, effectively eliminating them from contention in the College Football Playoff.
